Employee Alignment

A strategic plan also increases employee alignment and engagement.  When everyone in your business understands the overall goals and objectives, they can work together more effectively to achieve them.  By communicating your strategic plan to your team, you can ensure that everyone is working toward the same objectives and that they understand their role in achieving them.

Clear communication of goals and objectives

A strategic plan clearly explains the organization’s goals and objectives. When employees understand what the organization is trying to achieve, they are more likely to align their efforts with what the franchise business is trying to achieve. If everyone knows the goal is to improve NPS scores to 90%, which is being measured weekly, and the results are being shared, you bet team members will be working to achieve this goal.

Shared vision

A strategic plan creates a shared vision for the organization. When employees feel that they are part of a common vision. They are more likely to work together toward reaching that vision. If team members know the vision is to be the #1 landscaping company in your city. Then all efforts are focused on being the best.

Increased motivation and focus

A strategic plan can increase employee motivation by providing a sense of purpose and direction. When employees feel that their work contributes to a larger goal, they are more likely to be motivated and engaged. It is so important to connect back the goals and objectives to each individual contributor. As part of measuring employee performance, you should incorporate the goals and objectives of the franchise into what the individual is doing to roll up into these targets. Do you want to achieve monthly sales of $120,000? What is the individual contributing to this to help the company achieve this target?

Increased accountability

A strategic plan can increase employee accountability by providing clear expectations for performance. When employees understand what is expected of them, they are more likely to take ownership of their work and be responsible for their results. If you are not measuring employee performance against company goals. Then there is a big opportunity for you to connect your employee performance from not just serving the customer but serving the company.

In the next blog post, I will discuss how the strategic plan can help secure franchise financing. Feel free to send an email or leave a comment on how you increase employee alignment.
